You HAVE to see MDE Live!

By: Shy - [04/16/2025]

So the other day I went to see Sam Hyde live in Pittsburgh. It was insanely fun and if you are even remotely familiar with MDE it is ABSOLUTELY worth going if they are ever in your area. You will regret not seeing them. I also think that even people not familiar with MDE would enjoy the show too as long as they are cool IE: your girlfriend or your boys. This is going to be quite a long and very detailed recount of my experience there. It was a very good night.

I think this is the first time they’ve done a show in Pittsburgh but I might be wrong. I know I will for sure go again if they come back or if I’m close to a different show for some reason. The ticket was affordable and I nearly got a VIP ticket but the wording on the eventbrite site made it seem like vip was just for priority seating. I figured I could stand if I had to and let others sit in case there wasn’t enough seats.

Initially the show was going to be in upper Lawrenceville at some hecking wholesome dog friendly IPA micro brewery, but they FORTUNATELY canceled the show just 2 day before and the show had to find another venue. There’s even an article about this in the JEWISH CHRONICLE! I say fortunately for multiple reasons, one being the fact that the venue itself did not look like it would have been able to hold the amount of people that showed up. Another reason is parking, Lawrenceville is pretty much all unmetered street parking in this specific area. I was planning on showing up pretty early and I did my research to find some areas I could park. I would probably have been fine but with the amount of cars that ended up coming to the actual venue I think people would have had to park REALLY far away.

The actual venue had a proper parking lot, but even that was totally overflowing out into the streets for the first show. Once the first show ended all the people attending the evening show were already lined up waiting to get in, so they all had to park around the area. This wasn’t that big of a deal because it was in a residential area with lots of street parking which is a lot better than street parking in the city. I really like this area but I kinda feel bad for the people living there because the new 1.6 BILLION $ turnpike extension is about to cut right through their neighborhood and a lot of people are gonna have to move. :(

The line was already huge before 5:30

Some more reasons the venue change was really a major blessing: A few people speculated that there would have been “protesters” (aka gay guys) if it were in Lawrenceville however because this took place on the 12th which is the Jewish Passover, the J’s who hire protesters would have been too busy. It also would have been too far away to walk from any of the universities and it was cold, so I don’t think protesters would have actually been an issue. Though the original venue did get vandalized by some reddit lefty* for daring to host a LITERAL “NAZI”!!! Nazi apparently meaning: “Not A Zog Instrument”. The new venue was not actually a VFW as it was listed online, I think this was either a mistake or maybe a 3D chess move to trick the literal retards who wanted to try and get it shut down again. They didn’t find the real venue till late on the day of the show lmao.

*you can tell it was them because they did such a bad job with the "graffiti"

Getting your venue canceled by faggots because your jokes are too funny is a sign that you are a real comedian and not some puppet shill like MOST comedians are today. Finally, the venue change was great because the actual new venue was GREAT! It was large, they had a bar, I think some people got food there, and again parking was easy. It was also very easy to get to, I always end up taking 51 into Pittsburgh anyway so this was actually closer for me personally since I live out in the sticks. I would probably go back to this place in the future to get food assuming they don’t make some public statement saying how sorry they are for letting MDE make them fat $$$$.

I got a ticket for the early show because when I saw they were coming to Pittsburgh I IMMEDIATELY bought one and there wasn’t a late show scheduled yet. I probably would have gotten a ticket for the late show but I am actually very glad I went to the early one. I showed up pretty early and there were already about 8 people waiting by the door, The bartender pulled in and greeted us, she was really nice. By the time that the doors were supposed to open (5:30) the line of people was nearly out of the parking lot. I stood in line behind a guy dressed as CWC and the typical Pittsburgh black man wearing a Jack Lambert jersey(based). We stood around for a while, eventually the doors ACTUALLY opened and we all got seated at 6:30 which was the time the show was originally intended to start. Chris lynch was checking peoples bags at the door. I ended up sitting 2 rows behind the CWC guy, but right in the very middle so I got a pretty good view.

The Venue was a flat open hall space so the seating was all very well arranged tightly packed folding chairs. Perfectly comfortable, though I feel bad for people sitting in the back because there is no way they could see the 6 inch tall stage over everyone’s heads. In front of me was a guy who looked exactly like my cousin in-law wearing a SNEED jersey (hilarious). To my front right there was a guy wearing the Randy Weaver “Just say no to ZOG” shirt. To the direct right of me were two guys who, like 75% of the entire audience including myself were the average yinzer phenotype. Seriously we all kinda wear the same shit and talk/act the same way.

So funny, the guy was tottally cool too. Wish I got pics of some of the other dudes fits.

A girl and her boyfriend sat to my left and the girl asked if I had seen MDE live before. She told me she had seen them once and that it was like a life changing spiritual experience. Speaking of girls, I don’t think there was a single woman there who wasn’t accompanied by a man (AS IT SHOULD BE). Though I could be wrong, since I was one of the first ones in and sat pretty close to the front so I didn’t really get a look at many of the people who came in after. But the girls I did see were all very pretty, meaning that statistically if you like MDE you will have a pretty GF!

In case you couldn’t tell from my seating arrangement descriptions, I went to this by myself! I SORTA regret not taking someone with me for reasons I will explain later, however if you want to go and don’t have anyone don’t even worry about it just go! It was SO worth it even without anyone directly with me. Really all the people there are your friends, even if you haven't met them yet. To quote Owen Benjamin, it really was like “meeting old friends for the first time”. I talked to a lot of random people after the show but again I will talk more about that later on.

[The Show Begins]

They pushed the start of the show to 7PM so that way everyone had a chance to get settled (and to get drinks at the bar). In the background they played soft orchestral Elder Scrolls and RuneScape music. Now I have not seen any clips of the live shows besides what they occasionally post to Instagram or twitter, but I did know what the opening act would be. Alex Schultz from Be Nice To Me Productions came galloping through the room onto the stage wearing full Indian head garb, with one of those call center headsets on. Alex was using a wired mic which had connection issues when he moved around a lot, but he was able to seamlessly integrate the technical issues into his Indian man performance. A friend of mine kept telling me weeks before that the ENTIRE show would just be making fun of Indians, which I would have equally loved but really it was only Schultz’s act that was about Indians. Extremely funny and I wanna see him do more in the future.

Up next was Charls, the absolute legend. I feel like I connect to Charls quite a lot mainly because he is into all the same “conspiracy” stuff that I am into, the biggest conspiracy of which is everything is gonna be okay and not to waste attention to the manufactured horrors of the world. His set was all about that too, fake space, fake nukes, and fake cripples like Stephan Hawking and Helen Keller. He had the entire room, including myself SCREAMING with joy after he said FUCK SCIENCE. I can only imagine what the old guys who work at the venue were thinking during his set, especially at some of the other bits about being a flaming faggot. I don’t wanna spoil but I will say he had a lot of his classic stories from his time spent on Epstein's island.

Nick was next who was also extremely funny. The part I enjoyed the most is when he went around reviewing people’s recent car purchases, surprisingly roasting none of them since everyone had bought something cool like an old lexus ls. Another fun bit was when he asked if we liked living in Pittsburgh, which of course everyone did. He said that isn’t common and people usually boo at other shows. I think the funniest joke he told was about an ex girlfriend showing up at your work place and trying to show everyone pictures of your frozen cock, the way he delivered it was perfect and there is no way I could come close by just describing it via text, you had to be there. Apparently a lot of his stuff was new material he was trying for the first time, actually they all seemed to be referring to notes occasionally so for all I know all 4 of the acts may have had new stuff.

Finally Sam came out to some of the hardest applause of the night. He started off by revealing a secret that hes been keeping from everyone all these years: that he was a true blue aussie cunt this entire time. He also did HARD CORE crowd interaction. He had people throwing him ZYN. He walked around the entire room multiple times getting someone in probably every single row with something at least once. He was perfectly integrating people into his jokes, total flowstate comedy genius. The funniest thing was when he went up to the guy dressed as CWC and asked him with complete disgust, is that a Chris Chan shirt? The guy then pulled out his 1st edition sonichu comic, and sonichu medallion both of which sam threw across the room, breaking the medallion, and asked him to take the shirt off. He wore his wife beater the rest of the show. [Video]

Speaking of shirts Sam was wearing a t-shirt that said “city of gold”, I think this was some kind of Pittsburgh shirt but I wasn’t able to find a picture of it. If you didn’t know Sam went to school in Pittsburgh at CMU. I think one of the most interesting videos Sam ever made was him retelling the story of a visionary architect from Pittsburgh who was erased from history. Needless to say Sam has a lot of connection to and love from this region, and I hope he and the others come back more often.

[Warning: Photography Jargon] Periodically throughout the entire show I was snapping photos on my Minolta 110 zoom mk2. I stupidly loaded it with 200 speed film, even though I had a roll of 400. It was stupid because when I first took a picture using auto mode it left the shutter open for probably 60 sec. This camera only lets you control the aperture so my only option was to set it to flash sync mode 1/125 and hope SOMETHING comes out. I plan on pushing the roll by 2 stops but even then I might not get anything. I DO think I may have gotten one REALLY good pic of Sam while he was screaming in someones face in the crowd, IDK tho the lights were pretty dim. I will append the photos to the bottom of this page at a later date when I develop them, IF they come out.

The show was not entirely comedy though, at one point Sam told the story of his musician friend who he use to play counter-strike with. I am not gonna recap it but it was a genuinely touching story and Sam talked about how you should be grateful because every day is a gift. I really felt for mans. I often see people online who like to say Sam is some kind of cold nihilist who doesn’t believe in anything, but I don’t think that’s the case, at least not anymore. Sam even said during this that he was atheistic most of his life. It can sometimes be hard for high intelligence creative people to have or even find faith in anything and it is even harder to show it to others.

Though we shouldn’t feel compelled show our faith, especially by request of others. Sam also mentioned not wanting to put his beliefs on people which is very honorable. Any time you have any kind of fame especially online, you get people who basically want you to be their dad and tell them exactly how to think, act, and what to believe. You have to also remember the constant gamma type behavior surrounding notable people. By that I mean internet freaks will literally spend their entire life trying to ruin you because of something stupid. Eminem Stan type situations except with even more gay annoying freaks. Maybe you didn’t press like on a comment of theirs ONCE. This is probably why a lot of the things posted on anonymous boards about Sam’s personal life are negative, they are just made up or twisted by a small group of parasitic individuals. These people are usually “YOUR BIGGEST FANS” at first but become deranged freaks eventually. I know about this first hand due to my own small notoriety and I can only imagine what Sam and the others have to deal with on a regular basis. Anyway back to the show...

I remember someone in the audience at one point explained to Sam what “Lampshades” are, which was an extremely funny moment that he played on so well. Sam would occasionally ask Chris Lynch how much time was left since they still had another show to do. It ended at 9PM and let me tell you it did NOT feel like 2 hours. That time FLEW by. At the end Sam said to stick around in the parking lot till after the 2nd show for the meet and greet. Which I was told how they do it at most shows before hand so I was expecting this. When I went outside the line coming in for the 2nd show had already overflowed out of the parking lot. I would say there were well over 500 total people between the two shows. Though some people got tickets for both. The first show ended at 9pm and the people waiting for the late show probably didn't all get seated till after 9:30.

[After The 1st Show]

I would actually say the late show is the better one to attend because I think Sam goes on for a little longer than the early show, though this might be a different story if the whole change of venue thing didn’t happen and the show began on time. Then again the early show when they are still fresh might also be better in some ways. Either way I think Showing up before the early show’s doors open is the move. I got prime parking, and I was also one of the first in line for the meet and greet later on. I walked around the parking lot for a little bit and ended up talking to a few groups of random people.

One group was CWC guy and his friends, I knew I had to go talk to him. Sneed Jersey guy was also in that group and one of the guys was wearing the funniest shirt I’ve ever seen: a black flag looking logo but with Bionicle Toa Mata on it with text that says “Death grips”. IDK why but this guy and CWC guy looked extremely familiar to me, as if I had met or had seem the two somewhere before somehow, which is very possible. It is so cool how I can just go up to randoms and immediately we are friends. This is why earlier I said you don’t need to bring anyone, because anyone who goes to Sam Hyde Live is probably someone you would get along with.

I bullshitted with these guys for a little bit before they left, and then I walked over to another group of dudes standing around. The one guy named “GT” showed me a cameo that Sam had made for him: a 2min guide on how to get out of his financial woes by starting a company that sells healing drinks called “GT’s Kombucha”. Extremely funny. These guys also left and I went back to my car since it was kinda freezing out and I was only wearing a light jacket. I put on another jacket over top of that one and got on mumble to BS with the boys as I do on Saturday nights. I wandered around a little more while talking on my phone.

I walked down into the woods to take a piss since I guess I have CRIPPLING PEE ANXIETY and have a hard time pissing if anyone is in earshot. (seriously it fucking sucks and I wish I was normal) Also pissing in a toilet is quasi homosexual anyway so I am a designated woods pisser. Probably not the best idea since I had to scale a slippery unstable rocky slope covered in broken glass and who knows what else but I made it out with one hand while the other was operating mumble. At this point I decided to go to Sheetz down the road to get something to eat. This Sheetz in particular was really weird because it had a drive thru. If you are not familiar Sheetz is a GAS STATION but they have gourmet food.

My ideal pissing loc.

You can see kinda at the top of the photo the crest of the hill which I climbed down from.

IDK if it was people from the live that were at Sheetz or just random tuners but there were multiple people revving their cars and doing burnouts in the parking lot, AS IT SHOULD BE on a Saturday night! There was even a dude in a mini van revving his tiny little engine as he went through the lot. I drove back to the venue to eat my food in my car there, which was pretty good but I think my local Sheetz does their wrapz a lot better. As I ate I noticed up the little hill next to the side exit that Charls was outside having a smoke and talking to who I assume was Schultz. It was dark and I couldn’t get a good look at him. I guess this is another sign I should start smoking cigs, so I would have an excuse to loiter in the smoking area haha. Nick also joined them, obviously I decided to be respectful and not bother them plus I was still talking to my boys on mumble.

Around probably 11:20pm I figured I would get offline and go walk around the parking lot to the other side of the building to see if there was any kind of group waiting for the 2nd show to end. I ran into one guy hanging out by the lower exit door who was just having a smoke and I could hear the show was still going on upstairs. I ended up bullshitting with him for a bit, he was super stoked to see my copy of how to bomb. He went back up to the show and I decided I would head back to my car for a bit since it was freezing cold outside. About 10 min later I noticed a small group of people waiting outside, so I decided to go join them.

[Meetin Up]

Immediately we are all chatting about various things like how funny it was that there was an article in the time of israel and about how fucking cold it was, typical PA weather. More people began wandering over and a few min later Chris Lynch comes out and directs us to form a line up the hill which is where the meet and greet would be. At this point even more people began joining the line, I assume they were people who were waiting in their cars. Shout out to the dudes I was chatting with in line. The 2nd show ended at 11:45pm and all the people inside came out through the door in front of us. The line for the meet and greet was already pretty long but it seemed like the entire audience from the 2nd show joined the line.

To the left: the line of people who came back from the 1st show. To the right: the first few people exiting the 2nd show.

I was pretty close to the front of the line, but then Chris said they were only signing books, so me and the few other people with books that were up front decided to just get that out of the way real quick first to make it easier for them. They try to make it so they can meet with anyone who wants to, which again is a sign they are real living men and not manufactured entities. I was somehow the only one who ended up bringing a functional sharpie marker, no joke I specifically made sure to test the one I brought at home in case this exact situation happened. I got my book signed and in a moment of retardation during the chaos of us getting our shit signed so quickly I ended up taking a photo of me and the crew using my phone, myself. I didn’t realize I could have just handed Chris my phone and gotten a FAR better photo, like that is what he was standing there for.

Now if I HAD brought someone with me it would have been easier since I wouldn’t have had to like hold my book, my phone, try to aim my camera etc etc. All this stuff, the massive line, and the fact it was 38 degrees out made me feel a little rushed not wanting to take up too much of their time. If I had someone with me it would have been more obvious to me that Chris would have taken a group photo of us. But oh well I guess that just means I will HAVE to see them again to get a less goofy photo where my mouth isn’t half way open in the middle of me saying “fucking iphone” since while trying to take the photo i was accidentally switching into whatever stupid other camera modes the thing has.

This is what I look like IRL.

Still super cool I got a pic of me and them though. I shook the guy’s hands, went over to the line to say bye to a dude I was talking to earlier, and headed back to the car with a big smile. I waited for quite a while in my car before I left since the line of people was blocking my exit. Other regrets I had: I didn’t get to get a pic with Chris at all, he seems like a cool guy and I could tell he’s really helpful in regards to keeping things going smoothly with the live shows. I also regret not taking photos during the show with my phone. But the biggest regret is I didn’t get to meet Alex Schultz at all! I am a Be Nice To Me HIPSTER. I was subscribed to him on YT in 2018, long before he had anything to do with MDE. It is such bullshit his channel got deleted, he made so many good vids! There is a partial archive but I couldn’t find the one where his retarded man child character goes to the IPA brewery, I wanted to link that above when talking about the place that canceled. But yeah I really wanted to get a pic with mans.

IN CONCLUSION: MDE NEVER DIES AND YOU HAVE TO GO SEE THEM LIVE. It was an amazing experience, the show was great, I had a blast even by myself. The venue change was a major blessing and even though it was cold, it didn’t rain. It was really surreal getting to meet the guys who’s videos I’ve been watching for nearly half my life, even if it was just for a brief moment. The amount of culture that MDE is directly responsible for creating or influencing is unimaginable and I have the utmost respect for these guys. I again gotta shout out all the people at the show, talking to anyone there is like you are instantly bros. Basically: WE THEM BOYZ. Also shout out to the venue staff who were very friendly and also thanks to them for not backing out because some gay guy complained. I hope the next time they come back the venue will be just as good. I could probably keep going but this is a nearly 5K word blog post that I am writing primarily so I don’t forget how awesome it was.

Helllll Yeah
